Marginal Christianity

(Luke 4:18 KJV) The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

It is time for a great awakening. Israel is at war. all the nations of the world surround her. What does it mean? Read what Jesus tells us to look for: (Luke 21:20 KJV) And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

And do you know what? even if this was not so close to the end of days that you can feel, it we should, no, we need to wake up and step out of this marginal Christianity and love the LORD with all our hearts and minds and strength. We need to awaken a zeal within us that will rock the world. We need to wake up and see the truth and the power and the majesty which is Christ Jesus the LORD.

I do not know how, neither do I care how we became so slack in our zeal. What I do care is to wake us out of our haze and open our eyes to the reality around us. The God of all creation came to earth and died so that we could be free from death. In John 3:16, which we have heard so many times that it no longer means anything to us, we know that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him will not parish but have everlasting life. I know that I have taught this before but we can not loose sight of it. The Greek word that John used in this passage is  apollumi. It does not simply suggest death as in our physical bodies dieing but rather it speaks of our lives being ruined or destroyed or wasted. Thus this promise of God is that our lives will not be spent in vanity and futility. Rather we, who put our trust, our faith, entrust our entire heart and soul to, and believe in and upon the LORD Jesus Christ would have life eternal, perpetual, everlasting and abundant. So why do I see so many marginal Christians? Why have I listened to so many uninterested preachers? Why do I see so many people who confess to be Christians living for everything but Christ? Why do I see so much disinterest in the things of God? OH, if we could but know Him and the power of His resurrection. If we could just commune with Him day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment. If we could but be one with Him as He prayed we would be. If we would but believe in Him and upon Him there would be real revival.

It will not come from preaching the end times. It will not come from teaching about prosperity giving. It will not come in any candy coated watered down gospel. But it is in the truth of the good news found only in the work and person of Jesus Christ. It will come when we know the truth of His prophesied birth, His sinless life, His authoritive teaching, His shed blood and His death upon the Cross, His resurrection from the grave, His ascension and His coming again. It will come when we truly commit our life to Him. It will come when we understand the price that He paid for us. It will come when we experience the cleansing power of His shed blood. It will come when we are truly born again and are willing onto death to live for Him. Where is your passion? What is your level of commitment? How much do you love Him? How well do you know Him? Oh, may the grace of the Father be poured out upon us and reveal to us His awesome love for all the world.

Let's start with the first commandment. (Deuteronomy 5:7 KJV) Thou shalt have none other gods before me.

What is it that you have put before the LORD? Well, to me anyway, I judge commitment by the time spent with that which you are committed to. OUCH! Not only does that hurt with my relationship with God but with my relationship with my wife and my children. I have to be careful not to put this ministry before God. Anything that we put before God becomes our god. Priorities! What is the most important thing in your life? Is there anything important in your life? Where is your passion? My how we have taken that worn rut in the road of mediocrity. We have followed our fathers and our fathers before them down the path of the mundane and it has become as the teacher spoke of all vanity. Wake up! Get out of that rut and experience the eternal presence of all creation dwelling within you.

It begins with your want to. It begins with your realization of the possibilities. It begins with you thinking that just maybe, you too can experience something more. It begins with you knowing that there is something more to life then what you have been living. It came slap in my face this week when asked if the company I worked for was top priority in my life. How sad! Do you know that for some people there work is there god. My wife put it in perspective for me. You see, I use to be there. I climbed that corporate ladder almost at the expense of my family. I thank God that my wife knows the true meaning of love which is commitment. Imagine giving your entire life to your job and achieving great heights in the corporate world. Then, let's say fifty years from now when you are passed into the beyond, what is left behind but maybe a plaque with your name upon it stuck away some where that a janitor complains about having to occasionally dust off.

I talk about and preach how I have found the secret of life which is in worshiping God. How can that bring lasting fulfillment? First of all it will quickly put your priorities in line. It will make you aware of the power of love. And once you experience that power you can not help but give it out, and the more you give out, the more you get. Love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your strength and all your mind. If I could just take you by the hand and lead you to Him and put your hand in His. Nothing compares. Someone reading this knows that feeling. That feeling of having your hand in the hand of the man who walked upon the water. Someone else needs it desperately even right now. Do you remember how when Jesus did walk on the water and Peter stepped out onto the water with Him. Peter was walking on the water, then as he began to sink he cried out to the LORD and Jesus stretched forth His hand and caught him. Jesus is stretching forth His hand to you right now. Fear not Child the LORD thy God is with you.

The first thing that Jesus says to Peter after pulling him out of the sea is O thou of little faith, why didst thou doubt? Faith my friend! Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Listen to the word of God know that He will never leave you. Listen to the prayer of the LORD and know that His is able to bring it about. (John 17:20-23 KJV) Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Read that again and believe. This is Jesus praying for us that we would be one with Him as He is one with the Father. He prays that the glory of God would rest upon us. He prays that you and I would be one with Him. Him in us, us in Him, one, made perfect through the work He did upon the cross, showing forth the Love of God to one another and the whole world. For God does love the world for He is love. And it is love that makes the atom vibrate.

I have to bring this to a conclusion but that is going to be difficult because there is no conclusion to it. This is a message about the love of God which is from everlasting to everlasting. This is about you experiencing that love. This is about you expressing that love. This is about you knowing that love. This is about you knowing personally and intimately the one who is love. Don't let another day be wasted. Only believe. call out to the LORD and let Him stretch forth His hand and He will catch you and lift you up into heavenly places where God has already blessed you with all spiritual blessings. Do Not let this be just another message but let the Spirit of God use this message to spark within you a great awakening that will spread, fueled by the power of His resurrection within you. Let there be new life within you. Let there be a rebirth of your passion and zeal for the LORD. Let there be the light of God's love manifested in your life today, tomorrow and forever. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
