Seven Biblical Laws of Success

(Joshua 1:8 KJVA)  This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

If I was to ever write a book, and I suppose I some day hope to, this would be the title and the subject. Over the years I have read many, many self help books, from Og Mandinoís  The Worldís Greatest Salesman, To Dr, Norman Vincent Peals, The Power of Positive Thinking, Through How To Win Friends and Influence People, and one of my favorites The Magic of Thinking Big. All of them together do not amount to a hill of beans compaired to the mountain of knowledge and wisdom found in the Bible. Too often I think we look at the Bible as a set of rules and regulations, a book of dos and do nots. It is so much more. Not only is it our Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth, not only is it our key to eternal life. The Bible holds the worlds greatest wisdom and knowledge and secrets to the greatest success in the world. Is that not what God tells us over and over that he desires for us. Did not Jesus come so that you could have life and have it more abundantly.

When we really start looking at the Bible for life giving guidance, we can see how Godís main desire for us is that we live a good and prosperous, long and healthy life. And within the pages of His word lies the secrets to success.  I have just outlines seven things that I have found that will help us all live a more abundant life, but the depth of Godís Word goes way beyond these seven. But letís begin with what is really perhaps the most important.

1. Believe. It begins with faith. You have to have faith first and foremost in God. We know that Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen. And this faith that we have in God has to be the faith of who he really is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. I think one of the biggest half truths that the enemy has used to rob us of our joy and peace and success, is that God is this big mean punisher, just waiting for you to mess us so he can squish you like the bug that you are.

God is the God of Love. He loves you with and everlasting, never ending love. We need to stop this lie of how God wants us to be poor and wretched and miserable and alone. God wants you to be successful if every area of your life. His desire for you is that you prosper and have a god name for yourself.

Remember Jeremiah 29:11 where God tells us that we need to know the thoughts and plans that He has for us. His thoughts are for us to live at peace and be prosperous and to make a name for ourselves. They are not thoughts of evil. Actually looking at that passage in context you can see how God is trying to clear up the misunderstanding that people have been given about Him.

(Jeremiah 29:8 & 9 KJV)  For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed. For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.

Success, and mean real lasting, deep down inside and out success. I am not simply talking about financial success. I am talking about wholeness and peace, love, and joy, health and prosperity. You have to keep your mind off of the trinkets in the world and focus them upon the real prize of who you are in Christ. You need to believe.

But how do we do that. Well, we know that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. We all need to spend more time in the Word then we spend watching Television. We need to spend more time focusing of God and His way then we spend on our own fantasy and the stuff that we simply make up. Believe is not some fantasy, Belief is the rock of truth that you stand upon it is the journey and the destination. You will achieve your expectations. If you expect to fail, you will fail, if you really expect to succeed, you will succeed. You have to start with knowing and believing who you are in Christ and the unlimited power within you. Believe and believe the truth.

  1. Evaluate. Try it out. Examine yourself. Practice the truth. Practice what you believe. God tells us to test Him and see if what He says is not true.  He tells us to examine ourselves. He tries us and tests us to build our strength and our trust in Him  Letís look at just a couple of scriptures that might help explain this.

(2 Corinthians 13:5 KJVA)  Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

(Psalms 26:2 KJVA)  Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

(Malachi 3:10 KJVA)  Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Examine yourselves, let God examine you and you can even prove God.

Here God is telling us to evaluate our lives. Make sure you are walking the walk and not just talking the talk. And again, please do not turn this into condemnation of yourself. Evaluate yourself and make sure you are on the path of success and not the one of failure. This is not worlds of condemnation but they are words of exultation. Every step of this journey we call life we have choices to make. We can turn this way or that. God has great plans for you but you have to see if you are headed down the road to greatness or are you headed down the road to destruction. And if you find yourself headed in the wrong direction, donít sit there and beat yourself up, make the adjustment and get headed in the right direction.

Sometimes even the slightest adjustments can make the world of difference in we end up down the road. Make two lines going in the same direction. Then just turn one of the lines ever so slightly to the right and keep them both going straight. It will not be long before the line you adjusted is far away and in a completely different direction then the first.

Evaluate your situation. Evaluate your relationship with God. Evaluate where you are and where you want to be. God has got a n universe of potential and possibilities waiting for you. Donít believe the lie of the enemy that you are all you will ever be. Within you are the seeds of Greatness.

  1. Live. I mean really live. Live life to its fullest. Get up and get out and enjoy this gift that God has given you.

For this I want us to once again return to John 10:10. This time letís read it in the contemporary English version.

(John 10:10 CEV)  A thief comes only to rob, kill, and destroy. I came so that everyone would have life, and have it in its fullest.

It really is Godís desire that you live life to its fullest. What is keeping you from that? Is it your health? God is the God that Heals. And I want you to think about people whoís health is a lot, lot worse then yours and how they are reaching great heights and really living life. Half of the battle is to stop complaining about what you donít have and start being thankful and using what you do have.

One thing that keeps holding people back from achieving their potential is their own personal guilt of the things they have done in the past. That is why God came and put on the tent of a man and died upon that cross. So all, ALL of your sins could be forgiven and put away as far as the east is to the west, never to be brought up again. And not only did He die, but the good news is that He defeated death and the grave and overcame not only life but death itself. So anything that you might think is past doing in your life can also be resurrected. Resurrect your dreams. Resurrect youíre your goals, Resurrect your life in Him. Live life to its fullest.

4. Invest. This is all about planting seeds. You really do reap what you sow. And you can not reap until you have sowed. But the great thing is that it all starts with a seed. The more seeds you plant the more abundant the harvest will be. And you can apply this to every area of your life.

(Amos 9:13 KJVA)  Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.

I love this verse because it really explains how God desires to chase you down with blessing. But it have to begin with you.

5. Enlighten. I really canít think of a better word for what we need to do and have done to our understanding and our lives. We need to be enlightened. It is the cross between having the lights come on and the lightening of a heavy load. Some times we wonder around in darkness carrying a heavy load. Cast your cares upon Him for He careth for you. Let the eye of your understanding be enlightened.

(Ephesians 1:18 KJVA)  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

It is when we dig into the Word of God that we discover the secret of success that is found in His enlightening of our souls.

(Job 33:29  & 30 KJV)  Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man, To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

It is when we get our eyes off ourselves and put them firmly upon the God of all creation that we become enlightened and inspired and invigorated and motivated. We need to really get on fire for the things of God. Seek ye first His kingdom and all the other stuff will be added unto you. Do you want real success. Then seek His enlightenment.

  1. Vision. Look ahead in your life, one year, now two, five , ten years down the road; what do you see?

(Proverbs 29:18 KJV)  Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

The corporate world knows the importance of a vision statement. We need to get a good vision of where we are want to go. The is the old expression how if you aim for nothing that is exactly what you will hit. Vision is about taking aim. Vision is about setting your sites on the target, reaching for the prize.

(Philippians 3:13  & 14 KJV)  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

What vision do you have for your success? Now, step back and look through Godís eyes at the vision He has for you.  I think that is one of the things it means to have Jesus in your heart. You are no longer looking at your future through your eyes of the past but you are looking ahead with the vision of the LORD! Discover Godís vision for your life and go for it!

  1. Ebullient. What a great word. Ebullient or ebullience means to be overflowing with joyous excitement. It means to be enthusiastic and exuberant. This is really a key secret to the enjoyment of life. You really do get to choose how much you enjoy life. You really do get to choose how much you get out of life. You really do get to choose to be happy or miserable.

(Philippians 4:4 KJVA)  Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

There is one thing that you have, and really one thing only and that is time. Some of us have more time then others and some of us who think we have more time then others actually have less. Then again some of us who think we donít have much time left might be the ones that end up sticking around the longest. The question is what are you doing with your time?  How much of it do you spend enjoying life and how much do you spend complaining about life?

The secret to success is the secret to enjoying your life. It really does not matter if you are rich or poor, young or old, black or white. Skinny or fat, healthy or sick. The secret of life is the enjoyment of the passage of time. And the Bible is our key to life.

Looking back over these seven words that I have given us for success they are as follows:

Believe

Evaluate

Live

Invest

Enlighten

Vision

Ebullience

B.E.L.I.E.V.E.

(Isaiah 43:10 KJVA)  Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

What do you believe? The truth is that God loves you and desires you to enjoy the abundant life. Put your faith in Him today and believe. But your faith in Him to day and succeed.
