I trust everyone has been growing and going forward , getting better and better in every area of your life. Let that be your goal. Little by little, better and better every day. Sure there will be some set backs but don’t let them keep you down or turn you around. My good friend and Revitalization coach Rev. Dwight Rodgers wrote this in his new book:

“You are more than you were, but you won’t be the more that you were designed to be if you remain the same.”

With that, I want to talk about the basics of what you believe. Too often we either don’t think about it or we just say we believe this way or that way but our actions do not match up with our words. Then there are those who try too hard to be something they are not and everyone sees them as a phony. I find that I am most productive and most, well, anointed I guess you could say, when I am just being myself. If I try to be something I am not, I end up failing at it all. But when I simply do what I know and really try my best, God fills in the rest and life flows a lot easier

Better Days Are Ahead!!!!

(Colossians 3:23 &24 KJV)  And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;  Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

This ministry is about letting you know, reminding you of the truth that your tomorrow can be better than your yesterday when we think positively today. If you are looking ahead with doom and gloom in your sights then that is what you are aiming for. And you usually get what you aim for. However when you set your sights on that which is uplifting, and rewarding, then the future looks that much brighter. You need to first of all know that there is hope. Secondly you need to know that you deserve better. Then lastly you need to know that you know that “you can do it!”

It is not all about believing in yourself. It demands determination and perseverance. But they are only going to come when you can absolutely see the thing that you are working for. If we did not know that we were going to be receiving a paycheck at the end of our work week, not many of us would work real hard, if at all. That is one big reason communism does not work. If people are going to be given the same for working real hard as someone who is not working at all, then why should anyone work hard at all?

And that is why you need to do all things as unto the LORD and not unto men. You need to know that your reward is so much greater then anything this world can offer.

With the first thing being the realization of hope for a brighter future, it can not just be an empty hope. It has to be something that you know. I am going to go back to the expression that I have used many times:

You get what you expect. If you are expecting   prosperity and success, than it will just naturally come your way. OH, Don’t get me wrong, you are going to have to work for it, but working for it will be a natural thing too. It won’t seem like some great burden to go the extra mile. When going the extra mile is the norm, then the journey is much easier.

It is about your expectations. But how do you change your expectations. Let’s say you have had one of those lives. I mean a real tough one. You were raised in poverty, you had bad relationships, you went from one broken dream to another. Now your expectations are ingrained towards failure. Failure has been the norm for you, it is what you have experienced, it is what you expect. How do you change that?

Everything has to start in your heart. But it can not remain there. I know that there are actually a lot of people who are somewhat like the one I mentioned above and that is really sad. That is what the enemy had done. Remember how In John 10:10 Jesus told us how the enemy wants to kill, rob and destroy our lives?

(John 10:10 KJVA)  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Well, God wants you to have the victory. And not just a one time, short lived experience. God has the abundant life planned for you and that is eternal. Not some day in the by and by when you get to heaven, but right here in the land of the living. You need to start by renewing your mind. You need to get it from your heart, from your want to, to your know to. Read that again! (From your WANT TO- To your KNOW TO!)

Why do you think Abraham is considered by so many billions and billions of people around the world to be the father of their faith. Because he did not believe the circumstances, he did not believe the situation, he did not believe the odds, He believed God!

So your first step towards a better tomorrow, is knowing that it is there today. In our Fitness Witness Program at church, we were talking about making commitments. Sometimes you have to just make the commitment to make a commitment. Too often we make commitments and we do not keep them, so we stop trying. It is when you stop trying that you have already lost. The great thing about life is that God’s mercies are new every morning. Today is a new day. Today is the day that you can turn it all around. And so is tomorrow and the day after that. You need to know that it is not only possible, but it is already yours.

Abraham called that which wasn’t as if it was.

That is not saying that you start calling the sky purple when you know it is blue. That is looking at the future and going after it. If you see something is in front of you, but there are things in the way, standing between you and the thing that you desire, then you start looking for a way around them, or over them, or through them, and then you go forward.

But you are going to have to change a life time of disillusionment. You are going to have to form completely new habits. Success is going to have to become not just something that you take a shot at, but it has to become a way of life. And that takes us back to our scripture passage for today.

Remember last week we talked about Lou Holts’ WIN philosophy? (What’s Important Now) He gave us those three things that we needed to implement to succeed. The first was to do what is right, the second was to do your best, and the third was to really care about other people and show them.

It is about a new way of living. God has great plans for you. He has designed you for greatness. Inside you resides the creative power of the universe. The more you relies the truth of that statement the more of that creative power you will be able to access and use in this battle for the good life.

The battle for the good life. Sounds like a good title for a reality show. What is your definition of the “good life?” Do you need fame and fortune to have the good life” Do you need material possessions to live the good life? Don’t feel bad if you said yes to these questions. The fact is we are physical beings. Well, technically we are spiritual beings having a physical experience. But while we are here we can expect the best.

Here is what I am getting at today and I hope you will simply glean even a little from it and implement it into your actions this week. Look at our scripture verse again:

(Colossians 3:23 LITV)  And whatever you may do, work from the soul as to the Lord and not to men,

It really is not the destination as much as it is the journey. You will enjoy your job, no matter what it is, when you give it your best. It is when we slack off and do just enough to get by that we don’t feel good about what we are doing, and when we don’t feel good about what we are doing we don’t really expect such great results from it. After all, we didn’t put much into it, and we know that you only get out of something what you put into it…..

AH HAHHHH… There we go again with this re occurring theme of sowing before we reap. If you sow sparingly you are going to reap sparingly. But if you sow bountifully that is when you get back to the blessings, pressed, down, shaken together and overflowing…. Let’s read that passage:

(Luke 6:35-38 KJV)  But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Notice that He was not simply talking about money there? Oh, that passage is often used to talk abut money, and when applied to that situation it is very true. But Listen please!!!!! Seek Ye first the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN!!!! Then all the other stuff naturally follows.

I am going to end today by getting real with you. Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a financially wealthy man. Anyone who knows me knows that I struggle and have good times and bad, like any one else. I put my pants on one leg at a time. The difference is my outlook on life. The difference is my view of the future. I see great things in the future for me and my family, for my church and for this country and the world. Now, I can not honestly say that I always have. In the past I say myself as a failure, so I failed. Now I know that I have to overcome that. And overcoming anything takes change. “You can not become the more you were designed to be if you remain the same.” But change does not have to be a bummer. It is rewarding, it is exciting, it is a great adventure. I am going forward. I want you to know that the path forwards leads to better days ahead and I am inviting you to join me.

What is it going to take? It starts with commitment. You have to make commitments to yourself, for yourself and others. And then everyday you wake up you have to recommit yourself to those commitments. Why? For the prize that lies before you. For the high calling that is in Christ Jesus. For the joy of the journey. Because you are worth it!

Do you know you are worth doing your best? Sounds a little funny doesn’t it? You are worth more then a half hearted commitment. You are worth going the extra mile for your self. And if you think that sounds selfish, then just think about how many more people you will be able to help by being that much of a better example.

There are better days ahead. And they start today. They start right now. They start by you realizing the lie of mediocrity and believing the truth of who you were designed to become.

You are more then you were and you are going to become all that you have been designed to be starting today, as together, we do all things as unto the LORD!!!!!!

To God be the glory as you grow and prosper in every way, a little more and a little better every day!!!!!

God bless you. You really are a great blessing!!!!!!!

Your friend;

Pastor Bob
